Description
Flavio Poli was a renowned Italian glass artist who worked for several glass factories on the island of Murano, including Seguso Vetri d’Arte. “Sommerso” is a glassmaking technique that involves layering different colors of glass to create a three-dimensional effect.
Poli is known for his mastery of the sommerso technique, and his sommerso glass pieces are highly sought after by collectors. He would often use multiple layers of different colors, creating complex and dynamic patterns within the glass.
Poli’s sommerso pieces often feature a smooth, polished surface and bold, geometric shapes. He was known for his use of bright, saturated colors, as well as his experimentation with texture and surface design. Many of Poli’s sommerso glass pieces are considered to be masterpieces of mid-century Italian design.
